Putting my Experience to Work for You!

I have never experienced a more challenging time serving on the Detroit City Council than in
2020. We lost so many loved ones to COVID-19. While I couldn’t stop the virus, I worked with my
City Council colleagues and the Mayor to help establish testing and vaccine sites as well as
provide thousands of PPE units throughout the city to help residents stay protected. In the midst of the pandemic, I crafted one of the most progressive cannabis ordinances in the
country. Our social equity program provides real opportunities for Legacy Detroiters
to lead the industry and not just be consumers.

During these past four years, development projects have produced meaningful well-paying jobs for Detroiters under my leadership as the Chairman of the Planning and Economic Development standing committee. Thousands of affordable housing units have also been created or saved as well.

My office has stayed directly connected with D1 residents by hosting at least three community meetings a month in D1. We transitioned to virtual monthly meetings when the pandemic hit and have continued to keep neighbors informed on the issues that matter. We also created the city’s only district-wide small business directory to better support those who invest our community.

I am thankful for the opportunity that I have had to serve my city with integrity. I am asking for your vote again.  Together we will continue the progress that we’ve seen happening in D1 and throughout Detroit. There is still much work to be done.  My commitment remains to do
all I can to make Detroit better… for your family and mine.
